The New Kia comes with a refreshed design, including a striking front end, shapely side panels, a lovely rear end with dual exhausts and a comfortable interior. The Optima's passenger compartment is comfortable, well thought out and bright because of the panoramic sunroof in the SX. The Kia Optoma centre stack is angled toward the driver, making the knobs and buttons easier to reach. The Steering-wheel mounted controls for the radio and Bluetooth make things even easier for the driver. Rear seats are comfortable and there decent legroom, rear passengers also have their own air vents for heating and cooling.

There are six available trim levels with the prices ranging from $21,995 for the LX to $33,695 for the SX. The SX is equipped with sport cloth and leather seats, heated and cooled front seats, a full-length panoramic sunroof, heated exterior mirrors, windshield wiper blade de-icer, a rear-view camera, navigation system, a rear lip spoiler, fog lights, push-button start, paddle shifters, a sport tuned suspension and sport bumpers to differentiate the SX from the rest of the lineup.

Performance featrues on the New 2012 Kia optima include: two available engines: the 2.4-litre fourcylinder engine and the 2.0-litre turbocharged fourcylinder engine avilable on the SX. The 2.4-litre fourcylinder engine that is in most models, delivering 200 horsepower and 186 footpounds of torque. In the top of the line SX, you get the 2.0-litre turbocharged fourcylinder engine which pumps out 274 horsepower and 269 footpounds of torque. The Optima SX with the turbo engine burns gasoline at a rather frugal rate of 9.2 litres per 100 kilometres in the city and 5.8 L/100 km on the highway. Some say driving the Optima with the Turbocharged engine is more like driving a sports sedan.

The smooth transmission makes puttering around town relatively painless despite the constant starts and stops. On the highway, the Optima SX felt right at home, cruising along with very little wind noise intruding into the passenger cabin.
